Church building, exterior photographs, c. 1980
Exterior photographs of the church building taken for an insurance survey. Originally kept in the company's files, these two photographs, and two of the annex, were returned to the church in 2006 when Church Mutual was again quoting for the church's business.

Children's nativity scene, c. 1920
Christmas
This photograph depicts the children of the church in costume portraying the various characters involved in the nativity: shepherds, wise men, Mary, Joseph, and the angels. A young boy plays the violin. Pastor John Hookway and his wife are standing at the right of the photo. There is a large Christmas tree behind the group.
This photo was taken in the old Sunday School Building's main room (later the Men's Classroom, then the Prayer Meeting Room, now the Welcome Room) before the various walls were built to enclose the balcony areas above and below. Because of this, the date is estimated to be around 1920.

First church building, exterior photo, c. 1897
This photo shows the original church building, prior to the building of the Sunday School Building, prior to the paving of Wyoming Avenue, and prior to the installation of electricity. Gas lamps and young street trees are visible, as well as a few of the new row houses and twins at the left of the photo behind the church, and an old farm house at the right.
The date is estimated based on another photograph that shows an almost exact scene, with the addition of people and an event banner that provides a likely year of 1897.
The photograph is very faded and difficult to make out. A second image is attached that provides a Photoshop adjusted image showing much of the detail through enhanced image contrast.

Lawn Festival, portrait of people in front of first church building, c. 1897
This photograph shows the first church building as it appears in about 1897. There is a group of church members assembled in front of the church for the portrait, possibly for the Lawn Festival that is advertised on a banner on the front of the church. Two of the boys in the crowd have bicycles.
The date is assumed by the possible settling of August 12 on a Thursday, prior to the turn of the century, where another photo shows a paved street and trolley tracks. In this photo, the street is not paved, and there are not yet any electric wires, either for trolleys or building use.
1897 (circa)
1 photograph, mounted on a thin piece of cardboard
First church building, exterior photo, c. 1905
Shows people going into the original church building, c. 1905. There is a barely visible sign near the front door with the name of the church. The church still does not have electricity, and gas lamps are still visible, although the electrified trolley line, tracks, pole, and wire, are clearly visible. The street is paved with cobblestone, but there is not yet a street curb, and the sidewalk may not yet be paved.
Date is estimated based on information in the books documenting Wyoming's history, and other sources. The photo is captioned there as "Wyoming at the Turn of the Century," but other details such as the paving of the street, trolley tracks, and the various houses visible, point to a few years after 1900.

First church building, exterior photograph, c. 1920
Shows the church around 1920, dated by the caption of this photo in the church history books, shortly before it was torn down to make room for the new stone church. You can see the house to the left, now the church annex, as well as outlines and shadows of the back Sunday School building, which was built in 1906 and which still stands.
The street and sidewalk are now paved, and there is now a curb and formally defined grass areas. The trees that were very small in 1897 are now rather mature. The street now has electric wires, and the church also has electricity.

New church building, exterior photo, c. 1940
Shows the new (second) church building, which was completed around 1929. Date is estimated based on the style of the automobile in the photo. Interesting, while the neighborhood has been electrified for 30 or so years, there is still one remaining gas lamp at the curb in front of the church.

Memorial Service for the Rev. Gordon J. Kirk, 1978
Pastor Kirk passed away July 11, 1978, shortly after leaving the pastorate of Wyoming Ave. Baptist, so soon, in fact, that he is still listed on the front of the bulletins as Pastor. Bulletin includes a short biography, a program, and a list of participants. There is no date on this bulletin, but it's reasonable to assume that the memorial service was held the same month.
